the delay on transaction time could be caused by a few different issues:
- antispam software? antivirus software? hardware firewall that does spam filtering?
and more commonly, really slow internet access.
if you have a slow internet connection, and some certain external senders do too, that would do it right there.

Hi,
Internet is not slow and some of the emails that are being bounced back are coming from are from an ISP so I dont thinks its internet speed related,
antispam is handled my microsoft online forfront protection (external from the server)
this filters spam mail and relays good mail to the server.
none of the hardware connected to the server does spam or virus protection
have checked the virus logs and could not see any virus activity there
still not sure where to go from here?
