Symantec CMC Smc

On a laptop, a user has just recently begun getting constant "Symantec CMC Smc has encountered a problem and needs to close." I attempted to uninstall via the Add & Remove Programs, however it was not there. I used Norton Removal Tool to get rid of 2 out of 3 error messages. My first intention was to repair, but as this is no longer an option, I wish to get rid of it. Any suggestions?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

what symantec product are you using (product name and version) some of the removal tools are either for business or personal.

The name Symantec CMC Smc is all I can provide. The software was given to him by his workplace, and since it does not show up in Add & Remove, there's no way for me to tell, that's the only name I see.

Yes, I had just found that moments before you posting it. Got my hands on it, but now I'm getting an SMC.exe failed to execute, then bcmwltry.exe missing dependency.

it doesnt sound right. you might want to do a scan on your computer it looks like you might have gotten infected with a virus. if you laptop is clean the you will need to get the make and model of your wireless adaptor and download the drivers from the manufacturer.

The solution about cleanwipe is correct, and reinstalling the wireless software resolved the issue. Thanks!
