Backup Exec Remote Agent Uninstall/Install problem

I have a 2003 server with full version Backup Exec 11d that runs various jobs for other remote servers. I want this server to be added as a remote server to a 2003 media server which is running Backup Exec 12.5. I cannot get the agent to uninstall successfully on the 11d server, even after following all of Symantecs manual uninstall documentation. This is the recommendation I followed from Symantec: http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/232443.htm but when I go the the media server and try to push the 12.5 remote agent, it says Symante Backup Exec for Windows Servers is already installed on Server. I only need the remote agent and aofo on this server. It is not running in services, nor does it show from the media server, when I navigate in a new backup job, selecting the 11d server and hit properties, it says it is not installed. What am I missing?

Ok I was just informed that I cannot have two versions of remote agent on one server, is this the case?

yes, you cannot have 2 agents on the same server. You will need to uninstall or upgrade the present version. If BEWS in installed on the server, uninstall the same and just install the 12.5 agent.
