Permissions for script to write in the folder

I have recently moved from windows xp to windows 7 64bit. This resulted in big problem for me as jee developer: My IDE (Eclipse) can't longer write/delete/overwrite files in applications server's folder (local). I tried to set up all known to me permissions but still no success. The script responsible for replacing compiled resources simply says 'can't write to xxxxxx.war directory'.

The issue is not connected to IDE version, I tried with last working version and the problem is the same.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Are you able to manually write into that folder?

szczecinAuthor Commented:
yes, I am able to do everything I want with this folder (for example using Total Commander or windows explorer) - I use account with administrator's permissions.

The issue is:

I got directory of my application server:   d:/jboss/deploy

IF my IDE builds the code as archive file named MyWebApplication.war it can remove it/override - but it's not enough for me. So I create a FOLDER named MyWebApplication.war and script will try to copy files into this folder instead of creating archive. And then I get "Access is denied". Perhaps this is the issue? THat I create this folder myself? But I can't do it another way, and this way it worked in WinXP.

If this is being done by the web app, you need to make sure it has the same privileges as the user who created it.

It's done by IDE, not web app. Anyway how to set priviliges for application? Google did not help me..

Can you try launching the IDE using 'Run as Admin' or after disabling UAC?
This will give us some idea on how to proceed.

szczecinAuthor Commented:
Unfortunatelly it did not help. UAC is disabled, my IDE launched as admin, I also set up the process that IDE starts when deploying my web app to full control access. Still the same problem. I will keep trying to proceed this way, perhaps there's another subprocess responsible for coping content of archive to folder.

ok, I have solved my problem by modyfing ant script that copies the content of archive. Thanks to your tip regarding application and user who created folder privileges I could understand why the access is denied. Thanks a lot.

I modified the script to create folder himself and this way the folder and the script were created/executed with same privileges resulting in 'access is denied' error disappeared.
