when i run the following,
EXEC sp_helprotect NULL, 'DOMAIN\USERNAME'
i get
Msg 15330, Level 11, State 1, Procedure sp_helprotect, Line 291
There are no matching rows on which to report.

even though the windows login is registered as a login on the instance.

will this sp work for windows logins?

thanks

In the following link you can see an example identical to yours (ex. B): http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms190310.aspx

Given that, I'd say that the username being used 'jimw' must not be a valid username for 'master'.  Is that your user name?  If not, try the same command using yours instead.

jimw is valid used in user database.
we use master because that is where the sp is..

Did you verify that 'jimw' has actually performed queries sucessfully on master?  I know it is a pretty obvious question...just want to be thorough.

OK. JimW is a valid use in Tracker database. I do not see him as an user in MASTER, though. is that the problem? it is looking in the wrong place?
