Outlook 2007 freezes on load

Heya,

Whenever Outlook 2007 is run it simply freezes during loading, before even asking for the username & password.

I know the mailbox works, as I`ve been able to create the profile on another machine & load it in another Outlook. As well as: the user is currently solely using their Blackberry device.

What I`ve tried:
Running outlook.exe /safe
Running in safemode makes no difference, it freezes at exactly the same time.

Running outlook.exe /resetnavpane
It runs a "repair" & then when I run Outlook again after that it still freezes in the same place.

Create a new profile with the same mailbox details
From Control Panel -> Mail I am able to create a new profile, nor problem. Only difference when loading Outlook is that the "Choose Profile" box pops up... Immediately after selecting a profile (either the new or old) it hangs exactly the same.

Doing a system restore
Currently in the process of trying to see if this changes anything.

Any further troubleshooting or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Can you try reinstalling Outlook
Either through detect and repair

Or completely reinstall.

Also make sure all necessary service packs for office 2007 are installed.

To answer the questions above:

No, Stopping the AV service made no difference.

Yes, I was able to ping the mailserver.

And luckily it didn`t come to a reinstall.

Solution:
Age old System Restore.
Restored to date last week & immediately it all came to life.
Will keep an eye if problems return & update.

Thanks for all you suggestions team!

Client side action:

Is outlook being used in online or cache mode first ?
Configure the profile in cache mode if it is being used in online mode.
Restarted outlook to take effect for the same.

Also plz inform if you see any RPC baloon (on right bottom corner a message will appear: Outlook is trying to retrieve data from the Exchange server) while outlook is running slow.

If user is having huge mailbox, you can create subfolders and move items to different folders.
Delete unwanted data from outlook.

Server side action:
Move the mailbox to another store (create one if required).

Thanks for the advice, the problem has now been resolved by doing a system restore. But I shall answer your questions regardless to give you an idea of the problem:

The profile was being run in cached mode.

The RPC balloon never appeared. It froze almost immediately after displaying the Outlook window, i.e. before prompting for passwords, showing any contents (mail, contact, calendar), or showing any indication of trying to connect.

The user`s mailbox size was only 1.5GB of the allowed 2GB - so this should not have caused a problem.

Thanks for the advice on server side resolution - I was reluctant to resort to any server resolution as the profile loaded perfectly fine on another machine.

Thanks again for your input,
