Itune is not detecting ipad

Hi when i plug my ipad it is detected by the drive , but when i open my itunes its not detecting and giving error as "" an ipod has been detected but could not be identified properly
i have windows xp sp 3
please advice

Does your system support USB 2.0? Which is a system requirement.

If it does and you've tried restarting your IPAD AND your computer. Next you should try to do a complete unistall of ITunes and reInstall.

i uninstalled itune and done rgistry editing also for itune folders etc . but still when i connect with my pc its giving same error .
buit when i am connecting my IPod with other laptop or pc its working fine .
