I have purchased a domain through GoDaddy and i have setup a website through Google sites. I have it setup so that when you go to the domain it will forward to the Google site address is there a way to mask the forwarding so that they will see the domain name instead of the Google sites URL?

When you log into Godaddy and you set up the domain forwarding choose "Advanced Options" and change the setting to Forward with Masking.  This should do exactly what you need.
