Stop the POP Mail Download

We just finished reloading a computer with Outlook 2007, we saved the PST file however when we reenter the POP information it is re-downloading all the mail on the server for the past 6 years.  Anyone know how to stop this is only download the new mail?

Thanks!

Any way to keep them on the server but not have to re-download them?
I'm afraid not. reloaded client different machine.
that's the downside of POP, it is really designed to be emptied every time. Many hosters put a limit on the ammount of mail you can hold in a POP account. Maybe upgrade to a Exchange account and the email is held on the server database and you take a copy onto the computer (synced both way so if you delete or move emails they change in the exchange mailbox). The if you go to another PC or have to reload you just take link the exchange database and get the live copy.
