Could this interface, the tab folders and curved slideshow be done in jQuery instead of flash?  Have you seen examples of something organic like this done in jquery?

I'd say, yes, very easily. The curvature could be easily replicated by transparent pngs siting on top and the fading in/out of the images is a very straight forward javascript animation done on a set interval.

The yello stripe across the top is animated as well.  Here's a better view of it: http://ramquest.archernewmedia.com/rqindex4.html  Does that change your opinion?

Mmmm, that is a bit more fiddly, yes. An animated gif would handle that reasonably well but that's all a bit 1995 for my liking! ;-)

You could also animate a graded yellow box behind a png to achieve that effect but that does seem like an unnecessary overhead for such a simple effect.

What is your reason for seeking a Flash Alternative (just out of interest)?

I lean toward jquery lately because it is easier to get at the variables down the road, long after I have left the client.  Fla's tend to get lost and people change their minds.  Plus, I really like the way the tab folders behave in jQuery and that element will be present through out the site.

In this case, because the the yellow ribbon is important to te designers vision, likely I will leave it as flash and try to store vars in external sources.

Thanks for your help.
