Reciepients recieve URL links and not attachments

User has Excel file open, goes to File, send to mail recipient (as attachment) and sends it to the recipient. The problem is that recipients (different email providers) receive link only ( which is working) and not the attachment.
What needs to be configured so that recipients receive attachment and not URL link?
Using MO and Excel both 2007.
Thanks in advance.

Thank you all for your input, I appreciate it very much.
We have found solution.
The issue was MO Massage Format (tools-options-mail format).
When I changed Compose in this message format to HTML from Plain Text, email was received with an attachment and not just a link only.

Thanks again

I guess that your Excel file sent as attachments in a regular way are correctly received on the receiver end? And that your message in the outbox is with an attachment?

When the user sees the email preview to address it, does it show the workbook as an attachment on the message before sending?

Does it still show as an attachment when viewing the sent message from their Sent Items folder?

The different email providers may have policies of their own that control that.  Can you check with them or let us know who they are so we can check?

User and I send document the same way “send to Mail Recipient as Attachment”.
Mine is received as an attachment and the user’s (different PC) is received as a link (see attached screen shot).
In user’s send items, sent email has attachment and not a link.
Thanks

If the user with the problem sends an excel workbook as an attachment to himself; how does it get recieved? As an attachment?

There are two basic kinds of email clients.  Desktop programs like Outlook, Outlook Express, and Thrunderbird that are running on your computer and webmail clients like Gmail, Yahoo and Hotmail that run on web server in your web browser.  Desktop clients download the entire email including attachments to your computer.  Webmail clients don't download anything to your computer but display text and images in your browser.  In webmail like the Gmail image above, the only way to get the 'attachment' is to give you a link to download it.  Yahoo and Hotmail will work the same way.

I sent this (see attachment) to my gmail using the same method as a user. It showed up as attachment and not a link. In previous screen shot it was also my gmail; however, the message came from the user.
thanks
I just realized that the screen shot is BMP format. It will take a little longer to up load…sorry
thanks

Did you try this quick simple test? It should go out and come back as an attachment. Sent from and to his Outlook not Gmail....

Whay are the dates on those messages from the 16th?

Are you looking at old mail and not actually sending new test messages?
