How does the 2960/3960 handle SRR Share and Shape when Priority Queue Out Command is enabled

I would like to run the priority queue out command on interfaces carying voip traffic, enabling the strict priority queue.  However, it is my understanding that when you enable this command the shape and share commands (I am mostly concerned w/ the shape command) esentically become irrelevant.  So traffic marked and subsiquently mapped to Q1 (priority queue) could starve the other traffic.  Can someone please confirm my interpreatations and if I am correct, what is the appropriate method to configure a strict policing for a certain amount of bandwidth on that queue.

After you enable "priority-queue out" on the outbound direction, you need to configure policy maps to classify voice traffic and use police command to limit the amount of voice class traffic.

policy-map MYPOLICY
trust dscp
police 200000 20000 exceed-action drop

Alternatively you can use aggregate policer on your ingress voice VLAN ports to limit the total amount of voice traffic entering the switch from voice devices.
