Exchange - backup job fails

duplicate job from backup to disk folder to tape  device fails with "0xe0000848f" - insufficient disk space

Please provide below information:
- What backup application are you using?
- Is there suffecient space on tapes? Try to run the same backup job on new tape. Sometimes backup tape drives not able to remove catalog informaiton from the tape and backup application consider the tape as full.
- Is there any log generated in Application Logs/System Logs related to backup application or exchange backup?
- Is this VSS backup or ESE backup?

Backup exec is going to require enough space to make a temporary copy of the entire store, even if you're only backing up or restoring one mailbox. It's not entirely clear from your question what you're doing, but I would make sure any device and temp area has plenty of space for the entire store.
When I restore one, 10MB mailbox from one of our older servers, I need to make sure backup exec has somewhere to dump the entire 300GB store...it restores the entire store from tape, then picks through it to get out the one mailbox.
