Don't sell Illustrator short, once you download the brush set I linked to you can adjust the brush settings by selecting the brush then right click for several different settings. Photoshop is great also, but it is raster vs. Illustrator being vector.<br />

I have an image of a chalk board and good font but I can seem to figureout how to create a chalk effect in Ilustrator CS4. &nbsp;The Chalk &amp;&nbsp;Charcoal setting just makes messy looking charcoal appearance. &nbsp;How do I create a good looking chalk effect?<br />

Chalk Illustrator CS4

Illustration software is distinguished from photo-editing software in that the result is an original construction, rather than the manipulation of a photograph.
