enterprise vault doesn't work on a pc

enterprise vault doesn't install on a pc but does not give an error
actuall it does install without error but the toolbar never shows up and the icons don't change in Outlook. Which doesn't aloow us then to stt archived attachments.

That will do it since the entry is already in the sql table but now you have a different SID.  Make sure that if you ever delete a user or disable in AD that you disable archiving in EV for it.

What version of EV, outlook and outlook add-ins?

Is the user enabled?

Is the mailbox archiving? - Check provisioning group and archive explorer

Are the outlook add-ins installed?  You could run EVreset in the outlook add-in folder to reset it

8.0 SP3, mailbox was archiving, user wasn't in provisioning group, then added to group but dtill wouldn't work, add-ins installed without error but never appeared or would run in Outlook,
I ended up calling Symantec and the fix after an hour of trying different things was to delete the record from the SQL database and re created user and now it works fine.
- Uninstalled the Client
- Verified that the destination folder was deleted
- EV Client was reinstalled
- Icons were not displayed in the outlook
- Registered Valkyrie.dll
- Verified on Vault Server that the user belongs to any provisioning group
- Verified the user mailbox status was enabled for archiving
- Mailbox was not found even on disabled mailboxes
- Verified the ExchangeMailboxEntry status
- it was 1 1 1.  Deleted the record.
- Ran the provisioning task and the enabled archive wizard for this user
- Ran a Synch from the archiving task
- Opened Outlook back again and the Icons were loaded successfully.

That will usually do it.  SP4 offers some decent features such as status for backups,etc and EV9 is coming out next week.

I think I created the problem when I removed the user from AD and then re cretaed the same user. It couldn't handle the same user name.
