I have a 2008 64 bit Terminal Server. I have a user with an Office Jet L7500 series printer running on Vista 32 bit that needs to print locally.

I created a VPN connection to the server. From the workstation, I went to \\server and opened printers. I added the print driver on the print server. At the end it comes back with "Unable to install HP Officejet Pro L7500 series, Type 3 - User mode, X86 driver. The operation is not supported.

I saw one post that suggested I install the 64 bit drivers first but that did not help

I am adding the printer from the list in printers since I can't download just the driver. The downloads are just applications, not drivers that can be extracted to a folder.

Run the installer on a 64-bit workstation & before it goes through the detection process, look in your %Temp% folder for a directory which will contain the .inf drivers that you need to do a manual install of the drivers onto the 2008 server

I can't install the files from the 64-bit server. It says it is the wrong architecture. I did copy that temp folder to the local workstation and tried again using that driver but it still won't work - same error
