Automated build system with subversion and msbuild.

My source control manager is subversion and I'd like to learn how to automate builds with msbuild.

Where do I begin researching?

There needs to be a task for auto incrementing the AssemblyInfo.cs version as well as generate a tag for the specific project in subversion.

Hi,

I have done automated build process with subversion, NAnt and CruseControl.Net. And i would also suggest you for same not for msbuild. because microsoft is not releasing the new version of msbuild since last 3 years.

CruseControl.Net:

Nant:

Please clarify your argument... msbuild is included with .net 4 which was recently released.

Hi,

Acctually in MSBuild sometime you will not found any solution for how to perform this task. But on other hand Nant is very mature and stable.

NANT is also for .Net and it has a huge open source contribution. You can found anything in it. There is one more build process tool which claims microsoft is using them for their MS Office new releases.

i.e. Wix (Windows installer XML) http://wix.sourceforge.net/

Also you can read the MSBuild blog and guess how much is it stable?
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/msbuild/

In the end you can choose any one its upto you.
