Creating the SharePoint 2010 configuration database: "The given key was not present in the dictionary" error?
I'm trying to install SharePoint on to a two server setup. The SQL is SQL2008 R2 STD. I've installed the SharePoint prerequisities through the SharePoint executable, and installed the SharePoint binaries just fine. However when I try running setup, I get to step where it creates the configuration database and ends up in this error message:

I'm somewhat at a loss. What could be causing my configuration database installation to fail?

the account you are using for the install may have some funky active directory security settings. can you try to install with another account?
