I have a server with 8GB of RAM and 500 GB of HDD and windows 2003 64 bit

Can I put SBS on it to run outlook 2007 to send and recieve SMS and write the recieved SMS to a MS SQL SERVER 2005 DB?

Can I pull/download SBS from microsoft BizSpark?

Is there a stepbystep/guide to setup exchange on  one server?

I would format the existing server and then install SBS 2008 natively. SBS 2008 and Exchange are installed on the same server by default. You will need a 3rd party SMS Gateway for Exchange to deliver SMS messages. You should not install Outlook on the SBS server this is usually not a good idea. You can install SQL Express on the SBS server which is free. If you already have a SQL server then writing to it directly will be up to the 3rd Party software. As far as BizSpark is concerned, you just have to meet there licensing requirements, I believe. As far as step by step guide for installing exchange it is pretty straightforward as it is installed during the SBS install and is all wizard based. But if you need something I could get you a link that might be helpful.
Hope this helps.

No, SQL express is the free version of SQL it is not the full blown SQL server. You will need SBS 2008 Premium to get Exchange, ISA, and SQL. It also gives you the license to put the SQL on another server. The 8GB is a minimum. I believe SBS Prem. is around $1800 plus the number of client cals.

as far as RAM ...I may have to max it to 16gbs..since I websites and web server running on there as well...

SBS at $1800...any way of getting that cheaper?...thats alot..student discount...bizspark?

Also, its really important that SBS supports Outlook Mobile..I need to send SMS and I not only need to recieve SMS but write it to a DB...

16gb should be good. I'm not sure about student discounts for sbs but i know if you're a non-profit organization there are discounts out there. Bizspark has it's own requirements as a developer and startups, I'm not even sure they have SBS. I'm sure you can find it cheaper, I think the price I gave you is the retail price. I'm not in the pricing side much any more.
SBS or Exchange does support Outlook Mobile, everything I know points to a third party Gateway for the SMS part, I will check further and see if that has changed recently.
