I apologize for my lack on knowledge on this but i am new to windows 2008.
I have been tasked with rolling out 6 windows 2008 servers.
I would like to create one image or one server and deploy the rest via an unattended boot cd.

I have found the following article:
http://www.shudnow.net/2008/05/05/unattended-server-2008-base-image-creation-using-wsimsysprep/

but this seems to be how to make a base image for cloning or using vmware?
if so how would i use that to deploy to  other physical servers  ?

is there a way to create an image with an answer file and copy to a dvd/cd?

thank you in advance, again apologies for lack of knowledge on the subject.

Thank you very much for the response.  is there a way to create a bootable cd image though?
issue i have is, i have 2 servers in a remote location that are not able to connect to the network yet(network is not up at this time) I want to just load 2008 on them and have them ready when everything comes online.

Doing an install on the two servers without a network connection available would require someone to be physically present.  Since it is just two servers, you won't be saving a whole lot of time by doing an unattended install, but you might simply go the Ghost image route or use the link I sent to boot from the Windows PE environment to run the unattended install.

With only two servers, I would just manually run the installation on each server.  The install for Windows 2008 doesn't take all that long.

Thanks again for getting back to me. unfortunatley Ghost is not an option for me at this time and i do not thiink the company will purchase it.
right now its only 2 servers but there will be similiar situations in the near future so a cd will be extremely helpful.

The unattended install with the XML file is the closest you will get to what you are looking for short of finding an imaging solution that works for you.
