how can i show facebook updates inside a flash website

is it possible to show facebook satus updates in a web-site that is completely flash? any suggestions on how to do it?

You would need to first interface with some serverside language (such as PHP), where the server-side language would do all the API calls to FaceBook, and then have your SWF communicate with that PHP script using dynamic var or have php write to mxml.

Using a simple dynamic flash var approach you could do:

Since you are new to this, providing code might not be the best place to start, so I'll try and break it down in simple language if I can.

"Out of the box", Flash is a client-side language/application - meaning once it is downloaded (through a web browser for example) the code executes locally (no interaction back to the server), much the way core javascript works.

In order to communicate back to the server (such as to Facebook's API) you will need to connect your flash application to a server side language (such as PHP or ASP).

I think you should do a little Google-ing, there's so much documentation on this and some reading will really help you. For example, here's an article I quickly found that looks promising. It takes a number from Flash, sends it to PHP to get modified, then gets sent back to Flash. Once you learn how to do this, you can easily have that PHP file make a call to Facebook's API (inside PHP):

Thanks for the fast reply, I tried googling but wasn't sure what the to search. Obviously searching flash/facebook status update crap didn't do me any good when I don't know what I'm doing...heh..I will read on what u posted this weekend. Thanks again :)

Yea, you'll want to first learn how to get flash talking to a server-side language (like PHP), then you can move to the next level of having that server side language talk to Facebook's API. Try to search for things like:

- Flash and PHP
- Server side Flash
- flash talk to php

(you can substitute PHP for any other server-side language such as ASP).
