Block Netflix Streaming

I am trying to block Netflix streaming on my network. I need Netflix to be available, but need to block the streaming portion. A while back and entry for vo.llnwd.net was placed in the content filter to block it and that worked for a while. Now it is possible to stream again. I double checked and the entry is still in there.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to accomplish my goals?

you might try to block movielicense.netflix.com
This sight is responsible for providing the cookie/license needed to stream the video..

Course they may have changed it up..

I tried adding movielicense.netflix.com but still letting me stream. Looks like they did change things. I did notice the following in my temp inet files:

clientaccesspolicy.xml: https://agmoviecontrol.cloud.netflix.net/clientaccesspolicy.xml
and
clientaccesspolicy.xml: https://agmoviecontrol.netflix.com

I blocked both agmoviecontrol.cloud.netflix.net and agmoviecontrol.netflix.com to no avail

Any other thoughts?

When I brought up a netflix streaming movie, my proxy server reported these links.

and then

"http://www.netflix.com/WiPlayer?movieid=....." with a specific movie ID.

That is a bummer since if I block those I block netflix.com which I can't do. I had a feeling this was not going to be cut and dry with a quick solution.

I know you probably want to block it through the content filter...but what about creating a fake DNS zone?

Open DNS MMC
Right click on Forward Lookup Zones
New Zone
Primary Zone
To all DNS servers
zone name netflix.com

The problem is I need to allow netflix.com but deny the streaming. I had it fixed before, but they have changed something and it looks like I am stuck without having the ability to just stop the streaming.

movielicense.netflix.com sets a cookie.. Did you clear your cookies after blocking it? This method really should work..

yes, I did try that, but it did not solve the problem. because I cannot block netflix.com, I have someone else here working on this to see if blocking movielicense.netflix.com will work. I do not think there is much we can do at this point as it is just a content filter that I have to work with, I am pretty sure blocking out movielicesnse.netflix.com will also prohibit netflix in general but could most definitely be wrong.

No solutions worked in my case, although it would seem they would. I have turned the issue over to someone else in my organization.
