I had an netcdf file which I want to modify...

I had a lot of unecessary data in the file...i would like to get rid of that... and keep the data which is useful...

some of them suggested me to convert to excel using NCDUMP and modify the file...

but is it possible to reconvert to netcdf...

or is it possible to modify the netcdf file without converting it into other format...

A quick search showed me the wikipedia article on the netcdf file format.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NetCDF

The format is self describing and easily modified in any language.  I also saw references to Java libraries to use to access your data in it's current format.

http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/netcdf-java/

Let me know if you need more.

i have lat and lon points of whole country and the region that i need to cut...

I understand what you are currently doing.  It really seems to be the long way around the problem though.  It would help me to test out a solution if I had some sample data, perhaps you could come up with some and post it?

My question is partially unclear... so I thought to close the question... but few experts spend their valuable time in doing this... so I thought to give points to those who spent their time...
