reregister laptop

My cousin got a laptop for free from a guy,and i deleted the data on the system, but did not reinstall, to save time, and was wondering if i can unregister the laptop from the previous owner, and register it to the new owner?

Here is the registry key where the owner info is contained. This may be what you need.
