Cannot send a fax through ms fax

I now cannot send a fax through ms fax (I have previously used it often), so I tried to use ms outlook's fax transport and it similarly gets two pages in and fails.

I would prefer to continue to use ms fax if possible.

I have a Hewlett Packard Pavillion a1120a running xp pro and office 97 with an Agere Systems internal modem which used to send my faxes without a hitch.  The control panel doesnt list anything wrong.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello:

What kind of error messages do you get, if any?

You know, since I asked the above question, I rethought this issue.

The Agere soft modem seems to have a problem with its driver being recognized in some systems and/or with some software. This sometimes appears from seemingly nowhere. If I were you, I would eliminate the hassle of endlessly chasing your tail and running numerous tests to try to figure this out.

Fax modems are cheap - just buy a new one, disable the on-board one or pop out the one you have now and install the new. Let XP find the "new hardware" on startup and you should be back in business.

Time is money and you probably don't have any more time than anyone else to try and chase this down.

I hope that's helpful.

Good Luck!
