Cannot install java, java console in control panel showing up as unknown icon

Hello, I have gone through add/remove programs, removed all instanced of java.  Ran a program called revo uninstaller which "says" it has removed all instances from the registry.  I have manually checked the reg myself for any java looking keys.  Point is, we have a user using web based filenet system and she is sometimes getting java errors but it is intermittent.  Any help would be great.  Thanks experts

Have you checked path and classpath variables after uninstallation.
you might find some extra references.

In cmd prompt check 'set path' and 'set classpath'.
