I have a PSP 1000. I am reading on the internet that it is possible to play old PS1 games thru psx or eboot. I was unable to find a good guide about what needs to be done to play ps1 games.
1) Do I need to change the firmware? Right now I have the latest Sony PSP firmware.
2)If I change the firmware can I play my original games?

Tricky one to answer as even though PSOne games are that old using eboot is effectively cracking them into .iso images so giving you detail will fall foul of E-E's rules on Hacks & Cracks and defeating Sony's copyright on the games as the eboot versions become redistributable. You have all the right search terms for Google though.
The answer to your question about firmware will depend on how you end up doing it. You don't necessarily need to downgrade but you'll need to buy some additional kit. My suggestion would be to stay with the version you have so you get to play your normal games on the 1000.

Hope that's of some help.
