A data queue (under V5R4) is configured by default to hold as many entries as will fit in 16MB.  You can use the SIZE parameter on the CRTDTAQ command to specify a larger limit, up to a maximum of the number of entries that will fit in 2GB.

Stop adding new entries to the queue, allow your program to empty out the data queue, end the program, delete the data queue, and re-create it with an adequate size.

When data queue growth runs out of control, it means that you are pushing more data onto the queue than is being read off of it.  Consider speeding up the performance of the program that is reading entries off of the queue, or adding multiple processes to read the queue.
