combining servers to one machine

May be a difficult question here, I am in a situation where we had some water damage to some of our equipment. the equipment is still running but has been deemed non usable and is in an insurance claim and needs to be claimed by the adjuster.

I have benn given a HP proliant machine and tasked with installing server 2003 and putting the domain controller, AD, and exchange 2003 on this machine until we can purchace a new machine that will be used as a virtual server.
Currently the network is set up today as follows.
DC, AD - running on DELL Poweredge Windows server 2008
Exchange server - running on HP Proliant Windows server 2003 R2
File server - Running on proliant Windows server 2008 (this is going away and will be using NAS)

I have installed server 2003 and added it to the domain. I want to make sure I do everything I need to do in order to get everything functioning on this one machine temporarily. Have not run DCPROMO or ADPREP or anything just installed the server 2003 and R2 on temp server. updated it fully and added to the domain. I need steps from here to get everything moved over.

Thanks in advance...

you'll want to promote the server to a domain controller and transfer roles
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc755937(WS.10).aspx

then you can install exchange and move mailboxes and public folders

do you see any problems moving roles from 2008 to 2003?

no, and should mention
as long as your domain and forest functional levels have not been upgraded to 2008 you shouldn't have any issues
if the functional levels were increased you can't do any of this

it is at 2003 so should be good.

What about down time? can all this be done in production?

Why spend so long doing email signature updates?

Do you spend loads of your time carrying out email signature updates? Not very interesting are they? Don’t let signature updates get you down. Let Exclaimer Cloud - Signatures for Office 365 make managing email signatures a breeze.

the mailbox moves will disconnect users from their mailboxes

Have new server up -     EX2
ready to move from old - EX1

I have done all on the "install exchange and move mailboxes and public folders" except for the last part "remove the first exchange server 2003 computer"  I was kinda weary to take this down not sure why.

I got errors on my mailbox move... see errors at bottom

I tried to delete my exchange at my PC and re-add but it still maps to the original server EX1.thinkanew.local.  Will it not pull from the new server till I take down my first server?

will I have to touch each PC here to remap? (only 5 so not that big a deal)

you have two options
1. dismount the database (user outage) and run an isinteg
2. when you move the mailbox, select the option to skip x number of corrupt messages

ok that was short lived.... I had to mount the mailbox store on the new server and looks like I am getting the last of the boxes moved over. so will I just change my DNS to point to the new server address? then decom the old server?
