Cisco Communications Manager (CM) server sizing recommendations

I'm running into more frequent projects where I need to recommend new servers for Cisco IP Telephony deployments. Over time, I've found bits and pieces of this kind of information in a flood of documents, but cannot seem to find a "go to" reference for what seem like pretty simple questions.

Is there a table of recommendations out there for sizing an appropriate server for different flavors/versions of UC products?  I’m on top of how to determine if a particular, existing server is sufficient to handle a new version (or if RAM/HDD has to be upgraded to make it work), but what I can’t find (yet) is guidance on, for example:

- recommend an appropriate Cisco Media Convergence Server (MCS) for a Communications Manager (CM) 8.x environment with 600 IP phones; 1,500 phone...

- recommend an MCS server for a Unity Connection 8.x deployment requiring 400 voicemail boxes; 1,200 VM boxes

and so forth.

I'm not just looking for specific answers to the above, but links/references, and an explanation as to who to derive them in the future, no matter what the environment.

Thanks!

most of the case during the time of upgrade u have to upgrade HDD and RAM accordingly.

See the below link which will help u out.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/voicesw/ps6790/ps5748/ps378/prod_brochure0900aecd8062a4f9.html

if you are providing the current server details and the application you are going to be upgraded,we can find it out whether it is feasible or not.

Thanks for the input - honestly, I'm ok with determine the upgrade requirements for CURRENT servers.  I'm looking more for recommendations on NEW MCS servers, based on conditions such as I provided above.

Again,

- recommend an  appropriate Cisco Media Convergence Server (MCS) for a Communications  Manager (CM) 8.x environment with 600 IP phones; 1,500 phone...

- recommend an MCS server for a Unity Connection 8.x deployment requiring 400 voicemail boxes; 1,200 VM boxes

and then explain HOW you came to the appropriate choice.

Thanks again!

u can go with cisco MCS 7835 which will support 2500 phones per server and CUCM can be installed
MCS 7825 will support up to 1000 phones per server only

Below server can be ordered for CUCM 8.X
MCS-7835-I2 V02
MCS-7835-I2-IPC2
MCS7835I2-K9-CMA2D
MCS7835I2-K9-CMB1D
MCS7835I2-K9-CMB2D
MCS7835I2-K9-CMC1
MCS7835I2-K9-CMC2
IBM x3650

note that Cisco Unified Communications Manager 5.0 and later require minimum memory and disk size as described in the table below. For Cisco Unified Communications Manager 8.0(3) and above, it is strongly recommended to upgrade to minimum 4GB RAM and 146GB disk drive

for unity connection you can go for below servers

MCS7825I4-K9-UCC1
this will support 2000 users with mail box.
