Outlook 2003 freezes when attaching documents from a network.

I have a client with a weird issue. Outlook freezes when attaching documents from a mapped network drive  to a message.

If I copy the document to the desktop first it attaches just fine.

If I start Outlook in safe mode it works fine (ctrl key).

I have tried several files in different formats. The current file I'm trying is only 25K. The PST is only 300MB. There is lots of disk space available.

What I have tried:

1. Several different files from the Mapped drive

2. Running Outlook Repair and Reinstall

3. Disabling all addins

4. Creating a new mail profile

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

One thing that comes to mind for me is do you have any 'disconnected network drives' showing in My Computer? If so, right click and disconnect them, this can sometimes cause a problem with outlook(and other office applications) when opening/inserting a file on a networked drive.

Hope this helps

Thank you.

No, their is only one network drive and it is the one they are using. Also, I forgot to mention that I went into "My Network Places" and deleted everything in there. I have experienced network issues before where shortcuts in "My Network Places" no longer existed.
You may be experiencing this issue due to slow network speed.
No the network speed is fine. Moving files across the network is fast and the file I'm trying are only around 25K in size.
Take a look at this solution for someone else on ee see if this helps
