Can you use your own courier service with Virtuemart?

Hi,
I was wondering if we can set up our own courier with VM?

Also when after shoppers have bought a product is there a way to customise the email the buyer buys based on what they have bought.

For example, I would like to send specific information for specific products bought, after they have bought it?

Can this be done?

Hey Snowball77

Yes and Yes

YOU can add a custom field to your products which isnt displayed on the product in the store (just dont add a call within your product details page) where you can put detailed info, you can add this field to the output email, its pretty simple to add the custom field and the email is add an extra call within the email creation function to grab that field.

The custom courier is the same, You can use the import from here http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=65671 its actually for melbourne based couriers but NSW are slightly different but not too different (used to live in both places a few years ago) I miss Newcastle : )

Or you can look at the existing couriers and ones which you wont ever use and change the names and rates and which area its applicable to via its own php file.

Its a hack but it works.

How do you actually go about this specifically?

this thread is to create custom fields
to not show them in front end don't add the php call to your new field in the product details php file

I suggest you use the css product details template as it's so much easier to edit
