Greetings,

I have a user who is not able to open a excel doc that is sent to her via email.  The only way she can view the content is to save the document to the desktop and open it from there. If she tries to open it from the email, a blank excel doc appears, however I can open it just fine when she forwards the document to my email without having to save it to the desktop. What she wants to do is to be able to click the file in the email and it open directly from there.  I have ran a repair on office already and reboot. OS is Win XP 32 bit. Thanks for the input.

Do you have any antivirus programs running an email attachment scanner? I bet you do!

Also, a few questions:
  • Does this happen with every MS Excel document that's attached?
  • Does this happen with any other MS Office attachment?
  • Does this happen with any other attachment of any kind?

Dont think so, I checked with our security guys,  they are saying the scan is done directly at the server so this would not affect outlook attachments.  Any other suggestions?

Try deleting the default template for excel, usually located within the users profile. A corrupt template can cause this. Also, make sure the users OLK directory is not full. A long shot but that may help too.

I apologize for the delay but I have been unable to reach the customer due to her being out off office.  Still have no resolution due to inability to reach customer to try suggestions.
