CTRL-click the layer you want. This will select everything in that layer. Copy it.

Paste into a new layer in the next file. This is the only way I've found to do that so far.

Thank you, how about transferring the fx for the layer.  Is there a way to do that also?

Else u can right click the layer and select Copy Layer Style and in the other page, again right click on the layer and click Paste Layer Style
