Email not sending from Outlook outbox but no errors!

I've just set-up a friend of mine with goDaddy hosting and email.

They use Outlook 97 and their account settings seem fine. In fact the test email works and most emails do get sent.

However, sometimes, an email gets stuck in the outbox. No matter how many times we try to resend it, the progress bar does its thing, no errors, but it's not sent!

He's even tried re-creating the email, still won't send. But then he forwards the same email to me, fine!!!!!

The issue happens for multiple types of email recipient and even happens with my email address at one time.

What's going on!

I've got some more info.

We switched ISPs and all the outboxed emails were sent. So that eliminates the computer.

Can an ISP be interfering with my SMTP access to goDaddy?
are you sing your isp's smtp to send or godaddy's smtp to send? in theory you can use either if godaddy supply you one.

Can you be able to telnet godaddy's SMTP during the msg stuck in outbox. ?
The problem is solved (or avoided)

My friend contacted the ISP and they set him up to send via their own SMTP service with a password (SSL?).

I presume the ISP is doing something that causes issues with emails being sent to some SMTP services.


I found my own solution. The help and suggestions were appreciated
