Best solution for Server IP printing to Citrix Client's locally attached Printer?
SCENARIO:
1. Client telnets into a UNIX-based system by launching a Citrix XenClient-based terminal emulator.
2. Client and client's LAN thus does not have direct IP connectivity with that UNIX system
3. By the client request the UNIX system generates a print job that can only be sent to an IP printer
4. Multiple users use the same UNIX system for the same purpose.
CHALLENGE:
Client needs to have the print output produced on the printer of his choice "local" to the client (known to the client's OS) and that is not even known to the UNIX system
What could be the BEST SOLUTION and PRODUCT to accomplish this by changing only WHERE UNIX prints but NOT HOW it prints?

Basraj,
I am by far not an expert in neither Citrix nor UNIX. Before I spend hours reading documentation, for which I have no background, would you be able to firstly explain the overall solution in layman terms if such exists?
Besides, if I follow your link it comes up as "Citrix XenApp 4.0, with Feature Pack 1, for UNIX" which describes "installing, configuring, and administering Citrix XenApp 4.0, with Feature Pack 1, for UNIX". I did not even mention (as irrelevant at this point) on which platform we are running our Citrix farm, but it is not UNIX. So don't really why your reference would be even relevant to our case...
Thank you

The best method to accomplish this would be to publish the citrix print manager and give users access to it. When they launch this app they will be able to select which printer they want to make their default printer. So, before they print from unix, they would change their default printer to the desired printer then print from unix box.

OK.. So the UNIX should print to the Citrix server(s) IP address for the Citrix print manager to pick it up? I am trying to understand the workflow.
1. Citrix server(s)/farm would have different IP addresses setup to handle different printer types
2. UNIX prints to a queue mapped to one of the IP addresses that would correspond to the required printer type
3. Print job waits in Citrix Print Manager for the user to release it or until it times out
4. User launches Citrix Print Manager application and "releases" the pending print job by mapping it to his local printer.
Is this how you suggest it should work? If yes, would you be able to refer me to docs or elaborate on how to make point #1 work?
Thanks!
