Display calculated column in DIP

We wish to use a Sharepoint library to generate job offers - everything works wonderfully, except that the calculated column which calculates gross pay (hours*rate) is not available in the DIP of the document template. Any suggestions?

Many thanks fro your time.

What does "DIP of the document" mean? What does DIP stand for?

The Document Information Panel in Word.  That's where the metadata columns are displayed - every column displays except the calculated column.

Thanks for your time,

I guess that makes sense, since its a calculated column the user isn't expected to enter any data. The calculated column isn't updated until the document is saved back onto SharePoint.

Of course!  That makes perfect sense. Hmmm...it's going to be quite a challenge to get this one working as required.

Many thanks for your time. I will leave the question open for a couplle of days  in case someone has a workaround.
