Connecting Hyper v 2008 core

Taken my first steps on hyper V, I installed the core version, can rdp to it etc, its setup as a work group all standard. I installed the client on my windows 7 laptop however I get an error, access denied unable to establish communication between....
I have created an administrator account on hyper v to match my username and password on the laptop but still the same message.
Am I doing something wrong?
