virus of same name folder.

Hi Experts, i am facing a virus in my usb hard disk that creating folders of same name.
like if a open folder name A then inside of this folder same folder will be existed automatically and size of that renam folder is 151kb. i am facing this problem in my all drives. how i can get rid of it. ?
if i run antivirus i am scare might antivirus also delete my all usefull data along with this virus.
currently i am using AVG anti virus in my pc.

any recomendations that what antivirus i should use to fix this problem, OR is there another solution of this problem ??

I highly recommend using Kaspersky Antivirus 2010, is far the best Antivirus around and has a  full functional demo version to use

Many viruses (and brontok variant) have behavior like that.
Use this antivirus to remove the virus and restore the registry that modified by that virus.

To clean and to check if you system is clean do following:

Run malwarebytes in Safe Mode with Networking and update it before running a full system scan:
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam-download.php

Then try HitManpro to make sure anything which might be left behind is clean:
32bit
http://dl.surfright.nl/HitmanPro35.exe

64bit
http://dl.surfright.nl/HitmanPro35_x64.exe

If issue is not resolved by these tools try TDSSKiller:
