Our users have just migrated from GroupWise 6.5 to Exchange 2007/Outlook 2007.  Everything is working reasonably well; but, we do come across some Outlook training issues from time to time.  Not because Exchange/Outlook is not working correctly its because we are new to using Outlook.

One of our users has discovered that if he accepts an appointment from someone and that new appointment has a time conflict with an already existing appointment then there is no pop-up warning message.  I have noticed the same thing from my workstation.

My question is:  How can I force Outlook to prompt our users that they have accepted an appointment with a scheduling conflict?

i do not see anything very obvious in 'Tools' - 'Options' - 'Calander Options'. Screen shot of calander options Outlook 2007

This was one of the little annoyances of Outlook 2007.  There isn't really a way to do what you are looking for.  They did, however, make a change to this in Outlook 2010.  When you are viewing a meeting invite in Outlook 2010 it shows you your calendar for the same time slot.

Resources will not accept a meeting invite if there is a conflict.  When you are creating meeting invites with other people and resources, using the Scheduling Assistant shows availability of each person and resource if it is available.

Also, if you need it, here is some good info on managing resources in Exchange 2007 so that you can easily schedule them in Outlook 2007: http://www.simple-talk.com/sysadmin/exchange/using-exchange-2007-for-resource-booking/
