What kind of database is the source?  Oracle?  DB2?  MySQL seems unlikely... ?

That will be a primary determining factor in your next steps.

Migration Toolkit only supports migration to DB2 or Informix.

As far as I know prophet21 can import CSV data (and many more formats).

If you tell us what your AIX data source ("database") exactly is, we could perhaps help you creating CSV data from it.

Has Powershell sent you back into the Stone Age?

If managing Active Directory using Windows Powershell® is making you feel like you stepped back in time, you are not alone.  For nearly 20 years, AD admins around the world have used one tool for day-to-day AD management: Hyena. Discover why.

It is the "Progress" database.

When I converted a Progress database I dumped everything out in CSV and imported into SQL.  The reason was array fields in Progress.  There is no analogy to array fields in SQL Server.

Yep,

use progress' "export" which supports the "delimiter" option to create a .csv file (delimiter ";")

Then use this file with prophet21's import feature to get the data into its sql database.

There is even a commercial tool available to simplify your task:

http://p21manager.com/index.php/import-module/overview.html

Alas not really cheap, price is about $$ 2,500.-
