Forward email to subfolder in SharePoint 2007 list

We are testing a way to store certain email messages in SharePoint 2007. I have created a document library and gotten incoming email to work so I can forward to that library from my Inbox. The problem is that if I create a subfolder in the library I do not see any way to forward an email to it directly or even to drag it from the main folder to the subfolder.

Do I have to mail enable every subfolder? Also, why does the email address not show up in the GAL? With SMTP enabled on the SP server the address actually has a different server name as the destination than our regular email server. I do not want to have to tell everyone the email addresses to use to forward to the document library(ies)

It is not possible to email directly to a folder - email addresses are set at the document library level, and you can only have a single email address per document library.

A possible workaround for this is to use different document libraries, rather than folders within the same document library - it will achieve much the same thing. Alternately, you could set up a workflow, or an event handler that fires when an item is added, and moves the document to the appropriate folder.

You can get your addresses to show up in the GAL. Have you configured the directory management service in Sharepoint (incoming email settings page on operations tab in central admin)?

Also, if you are using exchange 2007, I had an issue, in that the contacts were being created correctly in the OU, but were not showing up in the GAL as there were changes from Exchange 2003. Let me know if you need more details....

Hope this helps...
