I'm getting this error "An error occurred during the processing of . Content ('</ZoneTemplate>') does not match any properties within a 'Microsoft.SharePoint.WebPartPages.WebPartZone', make sure it is well-formed. " whenever I try to create a new item in a task list.

Any suggestions?

It sounds like you are using a customized Master page.  And that in the Master page, the WebPartZone elements are not well formed (meaning one  to one ).

If you paste the code to your master page, we can help identify where the erroneous tag is.

I really couldn't put the code on here because I'm not allowed.... anyways, all I did was reset back to the site definition to have it work again.  But kudos for your prompt response and you did point me to a the right direction. Thanks
