Upload .xls file to SQL Server using ASP.NET

Can somone advise mwe on the simplest way to upload a .xls from a ASP.net website(vb) to a table in SQL server. I used to do it with the classic ASP by ploading the file to a folder and then using DTS in SQL but there must be an easier more effective way.  Thanks
