execute as - equivalents in SQL 2000

is there any provision like "execute as" in the older version?

what would be a possible alternative?

Hello,

execute as was added in SQL 2005, sql 2000 is so limited !

I don't think so, and can't find anything online

but I think you can use  OPENQUERY as a loopback to itself  

SELECT * FROM OPENQUERY (ServerName, 'EXEC db.dbo.SPExample')
