Hi Guys.

I have a clients New Sony Vaio (vgn-aw420f)  that has had a replacement hard drive. Upon reinstalling Windows 7, it goes through all the motions ok, but after you select the username and time/region settings etc the PC restars as normal and thats it.  Its stuck on the windows logo after reboot.

I have tried again with a fresh cd but no luck.

Dont a full hardware check with EuroSoft but no errors and all check out ok.

We reinstall Windows all day every day but I can figure this out :(

What am I missing?

Hi,

We had a similar problem with a VPC-EB1E0E where it would just stick at the windows logo. We finally found the issue to be with the Intel HD Grpahics adapter. To fix we rebooted from the Windows 7 DVD and did a repair. It did not find anything but it did allow us to get to the desktop. From there went to Intel.com and ran the driver updater, installed the latest and all is well.

Hope this helps,

Alex.

you could try booting into safe mode so no drivers are loaded and try doing it that way (safe mode with networking)

Findings:

It was the keyboard...

The 'tab' key was stuck causing it to freeze on boot.  It too ages to figure that out :(

thanks for all your input.
