I have a formula on the detail section of a report and need to total it in the group section.  When I try to summarize it I get a message indicating "This field can not be summarized"

Hi Tthayer

You may need something like the following,

In the group header add a formula
WhilePrintingRecords;
Global NumberVar MyTotal := 0;
''

In the section where you display the summary
WhilePrintingRecords;
Global NumberVar MyTotal;
MyTotal := MyTotal + {summaryFormula OR formular);
''

To display in Group footer
WhilePrintingRecords;
Global NumberVar MyTotal;
MyTotal

kingjely, it seems like you are going in the right direction here but the problem I see in this code is in this section:

In the section where you display the summary
WhilePrintingRecords;
Global NumberVar MyTotal;
MyTotal := MyTotal + {summaryFormula OR formular); <----- HERE
''

SummaryFormula or Formular that you mention does not exist as a field or you can not use it.
It's unavailable. I have tried also doing the same thing as tthayer but same problem.

I am guessing that possibly by creating a formula field NOT a summarize field cause it work either.
Let me know what else you can think of.
