We just started using SharePoint 2010 and having been testing the MySite Options.

I have a the MDF and LDF copies of the MySite Datase from Aug 31st and would like to restore them to SharePoint 2010.

What is the best way to recover this database?

Thanks

Are your backups from the existing 2010 mysites?  Or are they from 2007?

-make copies of existing SQL db's.
-detatch db
-replace files with the old copies of mdf/ldf
-attache db
-test in SharePoint

Strange, when I do this, the MySite Profile photos are now missing.
Is there data stored in other locations beside (in my case) wss_content_mysite database?

I restored "User Profile Service Application_ProfileDB", but still dont see the Profile photos.
Is there another step I am missing or should I also restore "User Profile Service Application_SocialDB" and/or "User Profile Service Application_SyncDB"?

you need to restore all the profile app related databases.  that would include sync and social.

Just tried that and still do not see the Profile Pictures and Colleagues, but at least I am able to recover the attachments.
I will continue testing to see what I step I am missing.
Thanks
