In Word 2003 Click Tools - Protect Document &nbsp;and click the Stop Protection button. If the author has not set a password, you should be able to unlock the document. If the author has set a password, contact the author. <br />

It is Word 2007 so I did right click on the circle button &gt;&nbsp;Word options and ... security but no luck. There is no such a thing as Stop Portection option or I might have missed it.<br />

Word file cannot be modified.
