ThreadLocal issue

This message keeps appearing on my tomcat server window:

SEVERE: A web application created a ThreadLocal with key of type [org.apache.log4j.helpers.ThreadLocalMap] (value [org.apache.log4j.helpers.ThreadLocalMap@dde3b9]) and a value of type [null] (value [null]) but failed to remove it when the web application was stopped. To prevent a memory leak, the ThreadLocal has been forcibly removed.

Can someone please tell me what this means and how I can possibly resolve this issue?

Many thanks
